Brian G. Houzenga (1973 – 2022)

Brian G. Houzenga, 48, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home, of an apparent heart attack.

Brian was born December 26, 1973, in Morrison, to Gene and Kristine (Zuidema) Houzenga. He was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1992 graduate of Morrison High School. He attended Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL, and then in 1998 he graduated from Mount St. Clare College, Clinton, IA. On November 12, 2005, he married Amanda A. Kennedy in Fulton, IL. He was employed by Super Wash, Inc. in Morrison. Brian was a member of Spring Valley Reformed Church in Fulton, where he served on the Consistory. Brian was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his two sons and watching them play baseball.

Survivors include his wife Amanda; sons, Caleb and Dylan Houzenga, both at home; parents, Gene and Kristine Houzenga of Morrison; brothers, Roger (Melissa) Houzenga and Kevin (April) Houzenga, both of Morrison; nieces, Dakota and Madison Houzenga and Anna Kennedy; nephews, Braxton, Brayden, and Brevin Houzenga, and Willard Kennedy; mother- and father-in-law, Tom and Sally Kennedy of Morrison; brother-in-law, Corey (Martha Hutchings) Kennedy of Morrison; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Vernon and Rose Zuidema; paternal grandparents, Henry and Elsie Houzenga; cousin, Paul Wiersema; aunt, Karen Vandervinne.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Rev. Joseph Crum of Spring Valley Reformed Church officiating.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.

A memorial has been established.
