The intriguing attraction of art of any format is the fact that often, there are no guidelines as to the required size.  However, a local venue did require a specific dimension to enter its current art show.  Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, offered the opportunity to make tiny art.

The month of March is dedicated to the displaying of art of the smaller size.  The canvas that numerous artists were given to paint is only 4X4 inches in size.  There were no limitations of what the final masterpiece must resemble.  Over the past weeks, 500 canvases were distributed to adult and child artists.  As of Tuesday, March 1, 2022, over 350 mini-masterpieces have been returned, and they are on display within Odell Public Library.

Each artist received a free “tiny art kit,” which included a small canvas, acrylic paints, brush, and easel.  Any theme or subject was acceptable, with the request that paintings be “family friendly.”  Participant painters were reminded, ”No matter the skill level, creating art is great for the mind and soul!”

As one views these hundreds of canvases, enthusiasm and creative energy are ever-so-evident!

During March, Odell Public Library welcomes the community to view this “Tiny Art Show.”  Open hours are Monday and Wednesday (10:00-6:00); Tuesday and Thursday (2:00-8:00); Friday (2:00-5:00); Saturday (10:00-3:00.)
