Marilyn M. Vogelsang (1929 – 2022)

Marilyn Marie Vogelsang, 92, of Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community, Morrison, IL, and formerly of Decatur, IN, passed away at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Morrison Community Hospital.

Marilyn was born in Greeley, IA, on December 26, 1929, to Estella and Fred Woeste.  She met her soon-to-be husband while taking a walk.  Marilyn was united in marriage to James Vogelsang on June 25, 1968, in Freeport, IL.  They moved to Decatur, where she began her job at Prestress Service industry.  After retiring they wintered in Melbourne, FL, until his passing in March of 2000.  Marilyn attended St. Mark’s Church in Decatur. Deciding she was slowing down, she wanted to move closer to family in Illinois, where she felt at home at Windsor Manor.  She shared friendships with Ramona, Louise, and Wanda among many others.

Marilyn is survived by stepdaughters and their husbands, Mary and Larry Ernst of Port Byron, IL, and Gretchen and Dave Bull of Morrison; grandchildren, Patty, David, Meghan, and Katy; nine great-grandchildren, one being Stella, with whom Marilyn had a very special bond; Janet Woeste, Manchester, IA; many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepson, J. P. Vogelsang; twin step-grandsons, James and Andrew Vogelsang; brothers, Martin and Roger Woeste; sister Ruth.

She had many special friends who watched over her, including Fred and Becky Fueling and Jim and Cheryl Franze of Decatur, IN.

The family would like to thank everyone at Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community and Morrison Community Hospital, for all the compassion and love Marilyn was given.

As Marilyn requested, she was cremated, and there will be no Services.

Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Decatur, IN.
