Richard Arlyn Haan, 75, of Chadwick, IL, died Sunday, January 9, 2022, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Richard was born May 11, 1946, in Morrison, IL, to Paul and Lela (Sykes) Haan. He was educated in the Fulton, IL, grade schools and was a graduate of Fulton High School. Later he graduated from Sauk Valley Community College with an Associates Degree in drafting. Richard served as a radioman in the United States Navy. On October 3, 1992, he married Rita Kay Dersham in Fulton. Richard was self-employed in the construction business for over 40 years. Most recently, for ten years he worked as a production supervisor at Midwest Monument in Sterling. Richard loved the Lord and was an ordained Minister. He and his wife were lay speakers for the Fenton, IL, church. They enjoyed raising lambs, ducks, and chickens, and also took seven years of ballroom and tap dancing together. He enjoyed camping and woodworking and was musical, playing the saxophone and singing solos for the church.
Survivors include his wife, Rita; daughters, Tammy (Loren) Venhuizen of South Dakota, and Cassi (Chris) Johnson of Rock Falls, IL; sons, Todd (Brenda) Haan of Morrison, IL, Brian Haan, Sr. of Bettendorf, IA, and Darren Haan of Dixon, IL; step-daughters, Tanya (Karl) Drezek of LeClaire, IA,and Heather (Michael) Koppien of Sterling; step-son, Eric (Shawn) Geesey of Birchwood, TN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Susan Wright of Mt. Morris, IL; brothers, Robert (Sue) Haan of Machesney Park, IL, Joseph (Donna) Haan of Fulton, Gerald (Nancy) Haan of Commerce City, CO, Michael (Bess) Haan of Clinton, IA, and David (Faye) Haan of Cable, WI; aunt, Bonnie (Leon) VanKampen of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma- Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by retired Pastor Dalmus Meeks, preceded by a Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
Interment will be at the Garden Plain Cemetery, in rural Fulton, IL.
A memorial has been established by the family.
