Governor J. B. Pritzker ordered all U. S. and Illinois flags to half-staff from Wednesday, January 5, through Friday, January 7, 2022, in honor of Sergeant Marlene R. Rittmanic of the Bradley[, IL,] Police Department.
Officer Rittmanic, 49, was shot and killed with her own gun in the line of duty on Friday, December 30, 2021.
Concurrently, Governor Pritzker ordered all U. S. and Illinois flags to half-staff from Tuesday, January 4, through Thursday, January 6, 2022, in honor of Firefighter- EMT MaShawn Plummer of the Chicago Fire Department.
Plummer, 30, sustained injuries in the line of duty on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at a Belmont Central neighborhood apartment. He died from those injuries on Tuesday, December 21.
