Stanley R. Mitick donated his U. S. Army Air Force Class A uniform to Morrison Historical Society. It was displayed for the first time on one of the new mannequins at Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.
Mitick is shown Sunday, April 27, 2014, during the museum’s Grand Opening for the 2014 season.
Mitick enlisted in December 1942 and attended the Army Air Force Pilot Training program. He was graduated in April 1944.
After receiving an Officer’s Commission, he received this “dress” uniform. Mitick wore it from April 1944 until he was separated from active duty on August 23, 1946.
The trim, cropped jacket gives a stylish look. Mitick described the uniform as “pinks and greens,” because the pants, shirt, and tie are a pinky-taupe shade, and the jacket is Army green.
