For over 50 years, Morrison Music Theater Association has presented quality productions to local audiences. The local organization announces its new season for November and December 2021, March 2022, and a second, autumn production to be announced. Morrison Institute of Technology auditorium, 701 Portland Avenue, Morrison, IL, is the venue.
“All Together Now” opens the season. The show is a collaboration of Morrison Music Theater Association, Polo Area Community Theater, and Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater. It will be presented one time at each venue Friday, November 12 through Sunday, November 14, 2021. Morrison will host the final showing at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 14.
“A Christmas Carol” will be produced as an on-air radio broadcast, set in the 1940s. Charles Dickens’s novella was published December 19, 1843. On December 5, 2020, due to COVID-19 precautions, the play was cancelled. Eric Phend stated at that time, “We’ll do it again!” The production is Friday, December 3, 2021. Audiences will find the format similar to MMTA’s 2019 Christmas radio play, “It’s a Wonderful Life.” There is no memorization of the script, because studio actors read their lines at the microphone.
“Steel Magnolias” is set for Friday, March 11, through Sunday, March 13, 2022.
“The Fantasticks” musical has a fall 2022 date to be determined.
