Diana Mae “Aunt Di” Bailey, 85, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling, IL.
Diana was born on December 12, 1935, in rural Erie, IL, the daughter of George and Dora (Nicely) Ballard. She graduated from Erie High School. On March 25, 1967, she married Jesse Bailey at Erie Baptist Church in Erie. Diana was a Cook at various restaurants, worked for GE in Morrison, and was a caregiver for the elderly in their homes. She was a longtime member of Erie Baptist Church, having been baptized and married there. She enjoyed camping and playing cards and games. She enjoyed her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Diana is survived by her children, Dora “Dody” (Rick) Ogburn, Morrison, Veronica “Vicky” Heady, Morrison, Mark (Debbie) Gibson, Clinton, IA, Shawn (Tina) Bailey, Erie, Michelle “Missy” Meinsma (Ed Elms), Morrison; step-children, Denise (David) Chapman, Katy, TX, Craig (Chris) Bailey, Des Moines, IA; 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; daughter, Teresa Cross; ten brothers and sisters; three grandbabies.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the funeral home.
Private Burial will be in Sharon Church Cemetery, Spring Hill, IL.
