Jennifer’s Dance Center, 104-B W. Main Street, Morrison, IL, exists to “showcase the performing arts in Morrison.” The studio is owned and directed by Jennifer Bielema. It is her inspired choreography that enables youth to experience the rhythmic exhilaration of dance.
See for yourself, as her students perform for families and the general public, Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the Morrison High School auditorium, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL. Choose 1:00 or 7:00 p.m. to experience “…the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts….” (Havelock Ellis) Tickets are $12 at the door.
The spring theme is “Let it Go.” Guest Teacher Colleen Kosier adds her “talents and passion for Celtic and Clogging and [gives the] studio diversity. The show boasts something for everyone,” stated Bielema.
Five graduating students will be featured as solo performers: Grace Bird, Hannah Blacklock, Allison Meurs, Paige Shirk, and Cassidy VanZuiden. Each girl chose a style (contemporary or jazz) to accent her talents plus the music and costume to embellish it. Most importantly, each designed the choreography for her final performance from Bielema’s salle de dance.
Six dance varieties will be showcased throughout the event:
- Irish step
- Scottish sword
- clogging
- ballet
- jazz
- contemporary
- plus a rousing finale with the entire studio.

Inside her air-conditioned studio, Bielema continues rhythmic instruction during summer camps. Dance instruction will be given in Irish classes, Scottish sword, Irish Performance Team, Pre-Competition Team, and Tumbling. There are Beginning Tumble classes scheduled for five-to-eight year olds (Monday, June 16, through Friday, June 20) and for nine-to-13 year olds (Monday, July 7, through Friday, July 11.)
