Maria L. Huizenga, 74, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at CGH Medical Center, in Sterling, IL.
Maria was born October 25, 1946, in Thomaston, GA, to Henry J. and Mildred C. (Reeves) Forster, Sr. She was educated in rural Whiteside County grade schools and attended Morrison High School. She married Howard O. Wintjen in 1965 in IL. They divorced in 1984. She then married Ronald G. Huizenga on April 10, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV. He died August 13, 2006. Maria worked at General Electric in Morrison for 30-plus years until retiring. She loved golfing and bowling. Maria enjoyed doing crosswords, puzzles, and word searches and playing cards and board games.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Michael) Imel of Morrison; son, Sonny (Tina) Wintjen of Fulton, IL; stepdaughter, Laura Allen of Clinton Township, MI; stepson, Rich Huizenga of Morrison; six grandchildren, Erin Shepard, Heather Fischbach, Chole Stingley, Zackery Brown, Michaella Brown, and Branden Head; three step-grandchildren, Addison Huizenga, and Austin and Shane Allen; five great-grandchildren, Kailyn Humphrey, Karleigh Humphrey, Drake Rangel, Addison Benters, and Thomas Brown; sisters, Ruby Thorton of Fulton, Patricia Meder of Louisville, KY, and Marilyn Wilkens of Fulton; brothers, Albert “Sparky” (Cheryl) Forster of Morrison and Steven (Angie) Forster of Jacksonville, FL.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Howard and Ronald; brother, John H. Forster.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Cremation rites will follow the Visitation.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
A memorial has been established.
