Ruth Elaine Meyer, 72, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, in Morrison, IL.
Ruth was born June 20, 1948, in Forest City, IA, to Emil and Sophia (Harringa) Ouderkerk. She was educated in the Fenton, IL, grade school and graduated from Morrison High School. On September 12, 1971, she married Douglas Meyer in Fenton. He died January 30, 2011. Ruth was employed at Markman Peat in Fenton. She was a former member of Fenton United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school from 1972 to 2016. She also taught Vacation Bible School and helped her husband, Doug, with Head Usher duties. Ruth enjoyed canning, sewing, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and attending various activities they were involved in.
Survivors include daughter, Pamela (Larry) Eads of Fenton; four grandchildren, Noah (fiancée Sydney Shearer) Eads, Abigail Eads, Sophia Eads, and Caleb Eads; sister, Mary (Robert) Huggins of Fenton; brothers, David Ouderkerk of Morrison, Harvey (Trish) Ouderkerk of Yuma, AZ, Larry Ouderkerk of Morrison, and Gary Ouderkerk of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug; brothers, Albert and Leroy Ouderkerk.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Brad Wilson, Pastor of First United Methodist Church in Sterling, IL.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Fenton Cemetery in Fenton, IL.
A memorial has been established.
