Rena Zuidema (1920 – 2014)

rena zuidemaRena Zuidema, 93, of Four Seasons Living Center, Morrison, IL, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Morrison Community Hospital.

Rena was born May 19, 1920, in Morrison, IL, to Jordan and Anna (Kuehl) Wiebenga. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County Grade Schools and attended Morrison High School. She married Kenneth D. Zuidema on July 9, 1938, in Clinton, IA. He died December 9, 1981. Rena, along with her husband, farmed in the rural Morrison area. She was a homemaker. Rena was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, where she belonged to the Ebenezer Quilters. Rena enjoyed the farm life, traveling, and quilting.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barb Belha of Morrison, and Mrs. Sharon Swanson of Sugar Grove, IL; two sons, Harvey (Karen) Zuidema and Kent (Karen) Zuidema, both of Morrison; 13 grandchildren, Steve (Shelly) Belha, Tami (Dean) Bauer, Sydney Swanson, Stephanie (Joe) Rislove, Ben (Tara) Swanson, Carmen (Kevin) Church, Todd (Kim Given) Zuidema, Dean (Julie) Zuidema, Myron (Jill) Zuidema, Mindy (Tim) Fuller, Kimberly (Duane) Mulnix, Amy (Brad) Bielema, Laura Zuidema; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Loren (Suzie) Wiebenga of Clinton, Robert (Lois) Wiebenga and Gerald (Diane) Wiebenga, both of Morrison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one granddaughter, Brenda Sue Belha; three brothers, Donald, Marvin, and Arnold Wiebenga.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Mr. Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL

Memorials to Four Seasons Living Center and Ebenezer Reformed Church, both of Morrison, IL, have been established.
