Alberta J. Wiebenga (1931 – 2014)

alberta wiebengaAlberta J. Wiebenga, 82, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at the nursing home.

Alberta was born October 4, 1931, in Clinton, IA, to Paul Wesley and Helena Christine (Jurgensen) Gladhill.  She was educated in the Clinton Grade Schools and was a graduate of Clinton High School in Clinton.  Alberta married John J. Wiebenga on January 1, 1954, in Clinton.  He died April 3, 2013.  She was engaged in farming with her husband, John, in the Thomson, IL, and Morrison areas.  She was also employed by the Wal-Mart Store in Sterling, IL.  Alberta was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison.  She enjoyed golfing, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Deb (Dave) Zink of Rock Falls, IL; Lori (Steve) Benson of Morrison; Vicky (L. P. “Stu”) Stewart of Mulberry, FL; one son, Randy (Kathie) Wiebenga of Port Byron, IL; nine grandchildren, Jamie (Misty Hawk) McDoneld, Mindy VanHooser, Abby Benson, Lenny Stewart, Heather Stewart, Jim (Erica Varner) Wiebenga, Tim (Melissa) Wiebenga, Ashley Wiebenga, and Shane Wiebenga; seven great-grandchildren, Alex McDoneld, Isabella McDoneld, Evan Wiebenga, Ethan Wiebenga, Michael Wiebenga, Colin Wiebenga, and Jayden Wiebenga; two sisters, Eleanor Kraft and Donna (Dave) Reafsnider, both of Clinton; one brother, Bobby Gladhill of New York.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; six sisters, Pauline Stratton, Marie Hudson, Wanda Begay, Janene Melvin, Helen, and Jackie; four brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Paul, Jr., and George Gladhill.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:30 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Ken Renkes, Director of Congregational Care, Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
