Eighteen upright safety dividers stood sentinel again at the Orange Street railroad crossing in Morrison, IL, on Friday, February 28, 2014.

“I told her [the Union Pacific Railroad inspector] no one’s going home until they’re done,” recounted City of Morrison Director of Public Services, speaking at 2:40 p.m.  He and his crew were completing the last divider paddles at the Sawyer Road crossing.  Those at Jackson Street and Orange Street had been installed earlier.  Tresenriter said only one paddle at Heaton Street remained to be installed.

After the inspector files an update with the Federal Railroad Association, the City will be incompliance, and the airhorn warnings should cease.

Listen for the sound of silence.
