February 19 Honoring Illinois’ Fallen

An Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) worker has died in an accident in Stark County, in central Illinois.  IDOT Secretary Ann Schneider says 49-year-old Michael Holmes of Wyoming, IL, died in the accident.  She says he was a monthly snowbird worker for IDOT.  He had been with the IDOT winter operations team since November 2007. 

State officials say law enforcement authorities are investigating the case.  No details of the accident were provided.

The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from Governor Patrick Quinn’s Office that all persons or entities covered by the Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flags at half-staff on behalf of

Gary Tresenriter, City of Morrison, IL, Director of Public Services, requested United States and Illinois flags remain lowered to half-staff from from Wednesday, February 19, 2014, through Friday, February 21, until the end of the work day, on behalf of IDOT worker Michael Holmes.
