01-22-14 at 11:29 p.m. Deputies responded to an accident on Garden Plain Road west of Frog Pond Road. Jose F. Perez, age 45 of Clinton, IA, was traveling westbound when his vehicle slid out of control and crashed into a snow bank, causing the vehicle to roll onto its driver’s side door. There were no injuries. Jose was cited for Driving Too Fast for Conditions and No Valid Driver’s License. Midwest Towing assisted on scene.
01-23-14 at 1:00 a.m. John P. Hopkins, age 21 of Rock Falls, IL, was cited for Operating a Uninsured Vehicle while traveling westbound on U. S. Route 30.
1-23-14 at 4:20 p.m. Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Galt Road and IL Route 30. Witnesses say a vehicle driven by Edgar I. Rivera, 22 of Clinton IA, failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck a vehicle driven by Laura Shipman, 44 of Rock Falls, IL. Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries but taken to CGH Medical Center for observation, along with a female juvenile. Sterling and Rock Falls Fire Departments and CGH ambulance crew responded to the scene. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the accident and had to be towed from the scene by Slim and Hank’s and Williams Towing. Rivera was cited for Disobeying a Stop Sign, No Valid Driver’s License and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. He was given a Notice to Appear in Sterling Court on February, 28, 2014, at 9:00 a.m.
