Ruth L. Alls, 75, of Erie, IL, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
Ruth was born October 12, 1938, in Swifton, AR, the daughter of Roy and Hattie (Williford) Fitzwater. She married Billie Joe Alls on August 15, 1955, in Lynn, AR. Ruth loved being a farmer throughout her lifetime. She was an avid animal-lover and enjoyed caring for and feeding the birds and wildlife around her home. She and Bill had a passion for horses and had been involved with the Mounted Patrol, The Tri-City Trail Riders Club, and other area trail riding clubs. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Morrison, IL.
Survivors include her four children, Diana Alls, Morrison, Billy Alls, Rapids City, IL, Janet (Alan) Black, Hillsdale, IL, Susan (Brian) Neff, Coal Valley, IL; sister, Flora Alls, Erie; ten grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Mettler, Paige Alls, Autumn (Kenny) Kinmon, Jake Benters, Nickie Benters, Phylicia (Mitch) Meier, Jett Black, Beau Black, Rahil Hyder, and Kasim Hyder; eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 2012; granddaughter, Kristy Benters; brothers, Paul, Merle, and Coy Fitzwater; sisters, Mildred James and Lucille Ayers; four siblings as toddlers.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2014, at Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL.
Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery, Erie, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Erie Ambulance, Rock Island County Animal Care and Control Shelter, or First Baptist Church, Morrison, IL.
