Here is an opportunity to keep a thriving business in Morrison, IL. Through its “Mission Main Street Grant” program, JPMorgan Chase Bank will offer each of a dozen small businesses $250,000 to improve or expand their enterprises. One local business needs such funding to remain in Morrison, because the current building has become too small for an expanding employee base. The public vote count for The City Rebar currently is 172, with just 78 votes required to reach the grant requirement of 250. New owner Scott Smithee urges the public to close the gap on the required votes this weekend, so he can begin the interview and selection process for the Mission Main Street Grant.
Think of each vote as earning $1000 in grant funding, for a niche business that has flourished over 21 years and employed countless staff. Currently there are 13 men and women employed.
Smithee needs to grow his business in a financially responsible manner. He genuinely needs this grant in order to do so in Morrison. Clearly, Morrison needs to keep this business in our town. The employees will make purchases in Morrison during their workweek. Tax revenue will remain in Morrison. Smithee’s charitable giving will remain in Morrison.
