Building off the success of its recent “Strides for Students” 5K run/walk, Morrison Schools Foundation (MSF) announces its “Striding for Students” Pledge Drive. The recent run/walk netted $4000.
Trent Bush (MSF Board President), Todd Schlegel (Morrison alumnus), Darryl Hogue (Morrison Junior High Principal)–shown left-to-right–and Rory Coghlan (Morrison High School teacher) will participate in the Quad Cities Marathon on Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Bush will run his fifth marathon. Schlegel and Hogue have completed half-maratons, but they will double their distance and determination for this event.
The four men are seeking pledges for an amount per mile (26.2 miles) or a flat sponsorship.
One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Morrison Schools Foundation. “We hope to get [a program of] classroom grants for teachers, [where they receive funds] for supplies and projects,” stated Bush.
Donations can be made by check mailed to MSF, P. O. Box 129, Morrison, IL, 61270 or online at www.morrisonschoolsfoundation.org/donate.
Come cheer on “Team MSF” at the QCMarathon! Along the course, there are bands, cheerleaders, and spectators to offer support. Runners begin in Moline, IL, at the iWireless Center, follow I-74 across the Mississippi River to Davenport, IA, then proceed to Bettendorf, IA, cross Arsenal Bridge and Island, and finish at the iWireless Center.
Bush stated his family drives the course ahead of him, predicting where he might be at certain times, and cheers as passes.
More information about the race (including a course map) can be found at www.qcmarathon.org.
