Lois Langley, 78, died Friday August 23, 2013, at home, after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
Lois was born September 24, 1934, in Dixon, IL, the daughter of LeRoy and Naomi (Alter) LeFevre. She married Charles Verne Langley on August 1, 1953. She attended Mound Grade School, and graduated from Polo Community High School, class of 1952. Lois was the secretary for 30 years at Trinity United Methodist Church, Sterling, IL, serving under three pastors. She also served for over ten years, as Treasurer of the U.M.W. and Trinity Women in Mission. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Bible school, and was part of Trinity Friends, and volunteered at PADS for six years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Verne Langley; daughter, Michele (Bill) Van Buren of Morrison, IL; son, Eric (Candi) Langley of Rock Falls, IL; six grandchildren, Travis Langley, Allyson (Joel Krehbiel) Van Buren, Taylor (Marieo) Miniel, Erika Van Buren, Chayse Langley, Autumn Van Buren; three step-grandchildren, Alexis Bauer, Kylie and Zachary Pottorff; two great-grandchildren, Haylee and MaKenzie Miniel; two brothers, Eldon (Shirley) LeFevre of Oregon, IL, Lyle (Karen) LeFevre of Dixon, and two sister-in-laws, Pat LeFevre of Polo, IL, and Cheryl (Charlie) Stanfield of Sterling; brother-in-law, Ed Dittmar of Morrison; many nieces and nephews; longtime friend Millie Johnson of Montgomery, IL; and Alazae her dog.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Elaine Dittmar, and a brother, Leonard LeFevre.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist, Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 26, 2013, at Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling, IL.
Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
Memorials have been established to Trinity United Methodist Church and Cancer Association.
