4-H logoCarroll, Lee, and Whiteside 4-H’ers had a day to remember at the 2013 Illinois State Fair!  These 4-H’ers had earned the right to advance to the State Fair by being “the best of the best” at their County 4-H Show.

The State Fair experience presents Illinois 4-H’ers with a unique opportunity to have their project judged by experts. They are not really competing against one another; they are competing against a standard.

4-H’ers spend all year preparing their projects for County fairs and 4-H shows. In recognition of being chosen to exhibit at the State Fair Junior Show, each 4-H’er receives an “Award of Excellence” for attending. “Superior” ratings are awarded at the discretion of the judges for entries they consider outstanding.

The following Whiteside County 4-H’ers showed at the 2013 State Fair.  Illinois youngsters between eight and 19 years of age, or in the third grade, are eligible to join 4-H.
