It’s a fairly brief ceremony, but Whiteside County Fair Board of Directors President Paul Vock considers it one of the most important events of each year’s Fair.
This is the “Friend of the Fair” presentation, scheduled for Thursday, August 15, 2013, around 6:30 p.m., before Cal Stage Band starts at 7:00.
The Fair Board has chosen Popcorn Bob (Landon) and Marilyn Green as the “2013 Friend of the Fair” honorees. Since 1989, the Board has sought to honor those who have made an extra effort to support and make the annual Fair as much fun as possible for all those who participate and attend the many shows and events.
“This year, the Board offers its sincere thanks for the many years of friendship and everything they have done for the Whiteside County Fair,” stated Vock.
“It is always a great pleasure to present this award,” he said, noting the Fair’s continued success depends on so many people doing so many different things.
