Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton is proud to announce the Helmet Incentive Program again this year. The program, which started in 2009, is to promote bicycle safety among our youth.
It is only possible through the continued partnership and support of DQ Grill & Chill. 2021 marks the program’s 13th year.
The Morrison Police Department’s Helmet Incentive Program offers a reward to those children (ages 3-16) who wear their helmet when bicycling.
Chief Melton explains, “Starting today, Thursday, May 13, and through the summer months, any time a Morrison Police Officer observes a child between the ages of 3 and 16 safely riding their bicycle with their helmet on, the Officer will reward that child with a coupon, for free ice cream at DQ Grill & Chill in Morrison, IL.” Melton added, “We hope this program continues to encourage parents and our youth to wear their helmets and practice bicycle safety when riding.”
Melton closed with, “We are very grateful to DQ Grill & Chill owners, Ellen and Bart Smith, and their staff for their continued support. Most importantly, we are excited about having the opportunity again to reward even more children this year. So, everyone, wear your helmet and encourage others to do so as well!”
