To the Editor:
I would like to personally thank the community of Morrison, IL, for its support during the Mayoral election process. The overwhelming outreach was unexpected and fulfilling.
I want to thank Mayor Everett Pannier for doing the heavy lifting and setting the tone over the last eight years. I want to thank Alderman Vern Tervelt for recognizing (and helping me recognize) where he and I are in alignment and agreement and where we are not. This is extremely healthy.
Many individuals made calls and posted signs on my behalf. I’m sure I don’t know how much behind-the-scenes work was done. I will single out Maggie Swearingen Jones for her legwork, jaw-work, and recruiting efforts. Thanks also to Anne Frame and Ned J. Nesti, Jr. for their advice and promotional efforts. These are only three of the people who are huge assets to our community. For those I did not single out, you are also huge assets to Morrison. How do we make a great community, if there are no people who have passion and act on that passion? You have that passion and act on it. For that I am grateful.
Morrison is a great place to live! We have a lot of work ahead, but it will be done with focus, planning, and prioritization. Thanks to the work of the prior City Councils and Mayor, we are primed for success.
I promise you I will be open, available, and transparent as Mayor and maintain the even keel that Mayor Pannier established.
Thank you and regards,
Scott Vandermyde
