On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos spoke on MSNBC Live, ahead of this week’s Biden-Harris Inauguration, Wednesday, January 20.
She discussed breaking news, that allies of the President may have received payments for pardons.
Also described were safety and security following last week’s attack on the U. S. Capitol Building.
Excerpts follow.
“We’re not only down to days, we are down to hours of [Trump] being out of the White House. [He is] the only President in the history of our Nation to be impeached twice….And here we are… with yet another deeply disturbing announcement, this time about selling pardons for crimes that have been committed.”
She spoke about anticipated violent protests in our Nation’s Capitols. “We have…this pledge of [insurrectionists] going into the Capitols of all 50 of our States.”
Her commentary cited her harrowing experiences on the floor of the Senate and surviving the attack on the Capitol. “The very first text I sent.…was to my husband. I said two words, ‘I’m safe.’
“When I was flying home from Washington, D.C. back to Illinois, we had a mini-Trump rally on the flight, 30,000-plus feet in the air. That was like something I’ve never seen in my life!”
