Franciscan Moment Video Discussion October 15

The year 2020 has been a challenge for our Nation. It has been a year like no other.  Yet its challenges call for Franciscan values.  The Franciscan Action Network (FAN) has developed a series of three videos, each about two minutes in length, which have themes inspired by Pope Francis: Care for Creation, Compassion at the Border, and Morality in Government.  Entitled “2020   A Franciscan Moment,” this series calls on Americans to be inspired by Franciscan values as they vote.

The online discussion is open to all.  Register by visiting https://bit.ly/3i9QPch.

The Franciscan Peace Center in Clinton, IA, is facilitating an online discussion at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, October 15, to watch these videos and talk about these important topics through a faith lens.  FAN staff members will be on hand to answer questions and lead the conversation.

Lori Freudenberg, Community Outreach Director for the Franciscan Peace Center, stated, “Because we have always been rooted in relationships and respect for human dignity, Franciscans are uniquely qualified to host discussions on how we build a better society.”

The mission of the Franciscan Action Network is to promote and advocate for Franciscan values in American public life and politics.  Guided by the Gospels and the examples of St. Francis and St. Clare of Assisi, their work is to engage the issues of our Nation with Franciscan hearts.

The Franciscan Peace Center was established by the Sisters of St. Francis, as a means for integrating Franciscan spirituality, with the mission of promoting active nonviolence and peacemaking, as well as advocating for social justice issues and care for the Earth.  Most recently, the Center has focused on immigration reform; human trafficking; abolition of the death penalty; domestic violence and sexual assault; poverty; environmental concerns; active nonviolence.  More information is available at www.ClintonFranciscans.com.
