On 9-15-20 at 2:52 p.m., Whiteside County Deputies, Sterling Fire Department, and CGH EMS responded to a single-vehicle roll over crash with occupant injuries, on Emerson Road, east of U. S. Route 30. Darryl Beasley, age 54 of Sterling, IL, was driving eastbound on Emerson Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway, entered the south ditch, struck a utility pole, and rolled twice before coming to final rest upright. Passenger, Samantha Smoot, age 26 also of Sterling, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Both Beasley and Smoot were transported to CGH for apparent injuries sustained in the crash. Beasley was cited for Improper Driving on Shoulder of Roadway. Further charges are pending, including No Seat Belt Use by either occupant. Deputies were assisted on scene by Illinois State Police, Com-Ed, and Slim-n-Hank’s Towing.
Both are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
