On Monday, August 10, 2020, Illinois State Police was requested by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the death of a Whiteside County Jail inmate. The inmate, 50-year-old Michael Kinison of Sterling, IL, took his life by hanging, while incarcerated at the Whiteside County Jail, 400 N. Cherry Street, Morrison, IL.
Preliminary reports indicate Kinison was found unresponsive by Whiteside County Deputies at approximately 7:00 p.m. during a routine cell check. Kinison was provided medical assistance by Whiteside County Deputies and the Morrison Fire Department, before being pronounced deceased.
An autopsy was conducted by the Whiteside County Coroner’s office on Tuesday, August 11. The investigation is open, and there is no additional information is available at this time.
