Past Whiteside County Fairs were preceded on Monday by a cross-County, communal, tractor drive. To protect Fair staff, vendors, volunteers, and visitors from contracting the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Fair Board canceled the August 2020 event. However, Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation will host the annual Tractor Drive on Monday, August 17. This pleasant event generates revenues to support Agriculture in the Classroom programs.
The drive is limited to 50 “antique” tractors, made in 1975 or before. Those positions have been filled. To be placed on a wait list, call the Farm Bureau office at 815-772-2165 or email foundation.wcfb@gmail.com.
If you participate, check in at the New Life Lutheran Church, 702 W. Lynn Boulevard, Stering, IL, at 7:30 a.m.
- The caravan will start at 8:15.
- Tractors will process through four Counties (Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside) before returning to Sterling.
- Boxed lunches will be served.
- There will be a rest stop along the route.
- Tractors will disband from New Life Lutheran Church about 3:30.
