The Morrison Historical Society invites the public to a Civil War presentation and film viewing, Sunday, October 14, 2012, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The location is Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL. Come early to view exhibits and eat “goober peas,” because the museum opens at 1:00.
Donald Mulnix will discuss the book he helped compile, with its extensive documentation of Whiteside County Civil War veterans.
“The Perfect Tribute” then will be viewed. It is loaded with noted actors, including Jason Robards as President Lincoln. The run time is 100 minutes.
This moving film highlights the hospital encounter of a Rebel soldier and a lawyer, who is–unknown to him–the President of the United States. The dejected President had just given his Gettysburg Address to a non-responsive crowd; he is plagued by both the war and his generals. The young wounded soldier offers him rare insight. It is suitable for children and adults.
