Willard J. Huizenga, 97, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, Morrison.
Willard was born May 25, 1922 in Erie, IL, the son of Anno and Rena (Heun) Huizenga. He married Ella Mae Bielema on October 6, 1943 in Erie. She preceded him in death on November 12, 1994. He later married Phyllis Pruis on June 6, 1998, in Fulton, IL. Willard was a farmer for many years. He loved baseball and was an avid Cubs fan. Willard also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Huizenga of Morrison; daughters, Sandi Heffelfinger of Englewood, CO, Ruth (Tom) Hartman of Rock Falls, IL, and Marlene (Todd) Ashpole of Geneseo; son, Allan (Debbie) Huizenga of Morrison; brother-in-law, Alvin “Bud” Wiersema of Morrison; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Mae; parents; sisters, Verna, Hazel, Norma, Rosemary, and Wilma; brother, John Huizenga.
Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1601 16th Avenue, in Fulton, IL.
The funeral will be Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at Spring Valley Reformed Church, rural Fulton, IL, with Pastors Ralph Beidler, Shannon Parrish, and Clyde Rensink co-officiating.
Burial will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Newton-Zion Reformed Church, Erie, IL.
