Monday, November 11, 2019, was a day that began with several inches of snowfall on the ground and temperatures that would keep it in place for days. It was a windy morning for the annual Veterans Day service by the American Legion, held at Veterans Park and Memorial, in Grove Hill Cemetery. About a dozen adults and one child attended. This also was a day off for school children.
Due to the latter, The Loft of Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL, scheduled a “drop-in” ornament painting party between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This creative endeavor was planned for men, women, boys, and girls of all ages.
It was a very busy morning, noted Volunteer Coordinator, Sandra Crouse.
About 500 salt clay, Christmas ornaments were available: snowperson, bell, star, tree, wreath, gingerbread person, teddy bear, circle, or heart. Guests enlivened them with tempera paint donated by CAPA.
Completed art pieces will remain on display on the gallery tree until the week before Christmas. They may be picked up
- Thursday, December 19 (10:00 to 2:00)
- Friday, December 20 (10:00 to 4:00)
- Saturday, December 21 (10:00 to 4:00.)
