William “Bill” E. Pratt, 86, of Erie, IL, died Friday, October 11, 2019, at home surrounded by family.
Bill was born December 23, 1932, in Erie, the son of Morris and Nina (James) Pratt. He served in the U. S. Army as a truck driver from 1953 to 1955. He married Nancy Kennedy on November 26, 1955. Bill was a truck driver first for Miller and James Trucking and then LCL for 26.5 years; he retired from Roadway after seven years. He will be remembered for his jokes and one-liners. Bill enjoyed spending time with his coffee klatch at the Pink Pony. He was a member of the Denton Schreiner American Legion Post 582 in Erie and the Teamsters Local 371.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Randy Pratt, Fenton, IL, Sherrie (Marty) Verkruysse, Erie, Ken (Sara) Pratt, Dundas, MN, Kelly (Mark) Nitz, Erie, Cathleen (Rob) Vegter, Morrison, IL; daughter-in-law, Brenda (Bill) Wainwright, Port Byron, IL; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim Pratt; sisters, Darlene Mickle and Gladys Stubbs.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL.
Visitation was Sunday, October 13, 2019, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL.
Burial will be in the Erie Cemetery, Erie, IL.
