Alan E. Ernst, age 82, died Sunday, September 22, 2019, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL.
Alan was born on June 1, 1937, the son of George and Marie (Mundt) Ernst. He married Joyce Pyse on July 3, 1954, in Sterling, IL. She died August 23, 2019. Alan was employed as a Supervisor and Maintenance Manager at Northwestern Steel & Wire in Sterling for 42 years, retiring June 1, 1997.
Survivors include son, Lee Michael (Lauren) Ernst of Davenport, IA; brother, Kenneth (Virginia) Ernst of Florida; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Pamela Schroeder and Julie Ann Ernst in infancy; two sons, Tim Ernst and Mark Eugene in infancy; two brothers, Donny and George Ernst.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL, with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating.
Arrangements were completed by the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.
