Larry Dean Gowan, 68, of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at his home.
Larry was born September 18, 1950, in Sterling, IL, to Paul and Edith (Moodie) Gowan. He attended Rock Falls and Round Grove Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. He married Dawn Bull on March 9, 1973, in Morrison. They later divorced. Larry was a Correctional Officer at the Dixon Correctional Facility and retired in 2002. He loved working and spending time on his farm. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Survivors include daughter, Jammie (Luis) Nieves of Vernon Hills, IL; sons, Joshua (Jennie) Gowan of Morrison, and Jacob (Amy) Gowan of Oconomowoc, WI; nine grandchildren, Alex and Max Nieves, Brooklyn and Bryce Gowan, Brevin, Jaysie, Camden and Kaylee Pruis, and Colton Gowan; mother, Edith Gowan of Rock Falls, IL; sister, Gloria Gowan of Rock Falls; brothers, Al (Deb) Gowan of Rock Falls and Stephen (Mary) Gowan of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul, and one brother, Marlin Gowan.
His funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, followed by visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Rev. Marv Jacob, Pastor of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison, will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established by the family.
