Florence M. Wilkens, 97, of Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community in Morrison, IL, died Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Windsor Manor.
Florence was born July 20, 1922, in Fulton, IL, to Albert and Josephine (Smith) Post, Jr. She was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and was a 1940 graduate of Fulton High School. On January 20, 1942, she married Joseph Wilkens in Fulton. He died October 17, 2015. Florence and Joe farmed in the Garden Plain area of Fulton for 32 years. She was a former member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. Florence enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and raising African Violets. She was known at Windsor Manor as “Grandma.”
Survivors include one daughter, Judy (Dave) Wiersema of Fulton; son, Ron (Linda) Wilkens of Morrison; grandchildren, Scott (Erika Boostrom) Wiersema, Shelley (Scott) Robertson, Lori Hutchison, and Jeff (Chris) Wilkens; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Wilkens.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joe.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Ken Renkes.
A visitation will be held prior to the funeral, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service.
The graveside service and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
A memorial to Windsor Manor Assisted Living Community has been established.
