Jan Stuart recently wrote the Editor, “So many acts of kindness go unnoticed. It was a pleasant surprise to see a rock painted with a message, while [Roger and I] were weeding the flower bed by the Kelly Park sign. I believe Larry Farthing was the person who painted the hand railing and planted some flowers there.”
Lawrence “Larry” W. Farthing, 88, of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, July 7, 2019.
The Editor took the photograph of the Kelly Park flower bed note-on-a-stone. It states, “The color pink makes every thing lo[ok] pretty.” So do the day lilies Farthing planted among the grasses.
The slogan of Girl Scouts of the USA is “Do a good turn daily.” Oprah Winfrey promoted “Random Acts of Kindness.”
During Altruistic August 2019 we are urged to “help spread a bit of kindness in the world.” On the website is a calendar of ways to brighten someone’s spirit. Friday, August 2, suggests, “Leave a note for someone to find.”
