Memorial Day Ceremony to Feature Mitchell Brands

AmericanLegionLogoThe 2019 Memorial Day Ceremonies will be held in Morrison, IL, on Monday, May 27; the parade will start at 10:30 a.m.  Parade line up will begin at The American Legion Hall, 306 E. Main Street, one half hour before the parade start time.

The parade will travel west on Main Street from Madison to Genesee Street and then move north on Genesee to Grove Hill Cemetery.

The Memorial Service will be at the Veterans Memorial and Pavilion starting at approximately 11:00, with time allowed for everyone to travel from the downtown parade route.

The Invocation and Benediction will be offered by Father James Brzezinski of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Morrison.

Master Sergeant Mitchell Brands (Retired), United States Air Force Retired, will be the featured Memorial Day speaker.  He is the son of Dave and Marcia Brands and grandson of Bob and Irma Brands, and a 1994 graduate of Morrison Community High School.  Brands entered the Air Force in August of that year and served for 21 years.  He began his career as a Weapons Loader at Kunsan Air Force Base, in the Republic of Korea, and finished his career as a Weapons Section Chief, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.  During his military career Brands earned numerous commendations, awards, and distinguished assignments.
