Nellie Zaagman, 95, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Nellie was born January 24, 1924, in Lyndon, IL, to Ren and Jennie (Bush) Port. She attended Lyndon Grade Schools and was a graduate of Lyndon High School. Nellie married Marvin E. Zaagman on October 5, 1943, in Lyndon. He died June 14, 2016. Nellie first worked for the Savanna Ordinance Depot, then for Harrington Brothers Grocery Store in Lyndon, and then at Morrison Community Hospital. Nellie worked for Dr. Richard’s, and Dr. Isaac Vandermyde’s and Dr. Richard Londo’s offices. She also worked for the Whiteside County Health Department. Nellie was a member of Christian Reformed Church in Morrison, where she participated in Ladies Aid and Golden Hour. She was a member of the Morrison Hospital Auxiliary and Resthave Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Ronald) Wilkens of Morrison; two grandchildren, Lori Hutchison and Jeffrey (Chris) Wilkens both of Morrison; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Katie, and Sarah Hutchison and Corbin, Drew, and Lexi Wilkens; three step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; two sisters, Dorothy Port and Una Finnestadt; one brother, Ronald Port.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Rev. Kevin Ver Hoeven, Pastor of Thrive Ministries Morrison Campus, will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
