“Meet the Artist” Paul Schmidt on April 25

Posted by

PaulSchmidtPaul Schmidt is a 1970 graduate of Morrison High School now living in Costa Rica.  Yet you can find his art for sale at The Loft on Main, 112 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  He is the illustrator of detailed drawings of the exterior and interior of Annan Mill, on Rock Creek along the Lincoln Highway.  Schmidt will be available to meet the public at the gallery, on Thursday, April 25, 2019, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

He was born and raised in Morrison.  Paul states, “The school had, at that time, a wonderful art teacher, Bettie Hall, who really encouraged me to develop as an artist.  I loved to draw, and she instilled in me the fact that drawing can begin with some talent, but it is only through hard work that it comes to fruition.  Good basic drawing is the basis for all graphic art.”

Paul graduated with a degree in illustration from Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, MI.  He has spent his life in various pursuits, but always works on his illustration and fine arts.  This includes a brochure, an illustrated map, a cherished old car, or a rendering of someone’s home.  On other occasions, he has done fine art pieces for gallery shows.

He is living the good life while painting and drawing.

“I really appreciate the local gallery, The Loft on Main, and the fantastic talent that the area produces,” concluded Paul.

Drop in at The Loft on Main and visit Paul Schmidt while he visits Morrison.  He will be glad to see classmates, friends, and admirers of his work.  He will answer questions about his meticulous and fascinating renderings of Morrison’s beloved mill.

Prints are available for sale.
