Morrison High School Varsity Wrestling Coach Tony Wright reported earlier that, “Nine Colts wrestlers competed at the IESA Sectional Tournament on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Two Colt wrestlers battled their way through the tournament and earned the right to compete in this weekend’s State Championships in DeKalb, IL.” Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, that accomplishment began to develop, at Morrison Junior High School, 300 Academic Drive, Morrison, IL.
Camden Pruis, left, and Cameron McDonnell processed down the hall, cheered by students and staff.
They received–literally–signs of encouragement when they reached their family members in the lobby.
Cameron McDonnell and Camden Pruis–the “Dual Cams”–will weigh in for the IESA State Finals after 9:00 a.m. Wrestling begins at 11:30 in the Northern Illinois University Convocation Center.
Amid a crowd of family was one, impactful friend who would travel to DeKalb in support of McDonnell. His mother, Denice Smith, noted this was Cameron’s first year on the wrestling team, although he wrestled when he was much younger. Talent will win out, and Will Meier talked McConnell into joining the Colts team.
