Nine Colts wrestlers competed at the IESA Sectional Tournament on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Two Colt wrestlers battled their way through the tournament and earned the right to compete in this weekend’s State Championships in DeKalb, IL.
Cameron McDonnell and Camden Pruis–the “Dual Cams”–will compete in the State Finals, starting on Friday, March 8, at 11:30 a.m.
Cameron McDonnell punched his ticket by pinning his opponent in the 185 lb semi-finals. Cameron, at right, a first year wrestler, hit three blast doubles before pinning his opponent. He later lost in finals, and finished in second place.
Camden Pruis, at left, suffered a heartbreaking quarter-final loss to Jackson Clark of Illini Bluff, IL. Pruis was pulled into the wrestle backs, where he won a 2-0 decision over Luke Moen of Orion, IL. He went on to redeem three losses on the season by beating Jacob Gibson of Erie, IL, in the 80 lb semi-finals.
