Shortly after noon on Thursday, January 10, 2019, Morrison Chamber of Commerce Coordinator Meridith Layne, far right, presented a recognition of exceptional service to Kathie Eizenga, owner of Eizenga Tax Solutions.
The certificate reads: “January 2019 Customer Service Award, Presented to Kathie Eizenga, Eizenga Tax Solutions A couple received a notice from the IRS that there was an error with their tax return and [they] owed a considerable amount. A friend recommended Kathie Eizenga. She met with them the next day–a Saturday–to get it taken care of quickly. Kathie was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and professional and helped out during a stressful situation. Congratulations! Not because nice is easy, but because nice matters!”
Eizenga is a Registered Tax Return Preparer, which required testing by the Internal Revenue Service. She must take Continuing Education courses to maintain her certification. The income tax forms–reflecting changes in tax laws–have not arrived, she said. Thus, people “cannot file until the end of the month. Everything is a schedule” now, she noted, which means “an extra form needs to be filled out.”
She does accounting and W2 forms for local small businesses, too.
Eizenga entered the field as an employee of Agrisolutions, which is based in Brighton, IL, with offices in Morrison, and Sterling, IL. She worked four years in Morrison, after which Agrisolutions “left the Morrison and Sterling offices.” In 2002 she bought the Morrison client base and opened Eizenga Tax Solutions.
In 18 years her client base has “at least tripled. I’m happy where I’m at. I absolutely love what I do! I could not do it without Judy Sieh” her Office Manager. “She does everything!” Eizenga stated.
