Students at Morrison Junior High, 300 Academic Drive, Morrison, IL, have new library materials to expand their knowledge, thanks to the repeat generosity of Morrison Rotary Club. On Thursday, January 10, 2019, Ellen Smith, Chair of the Literacy Committee of Morrison Rotary, said the service organization would mail a check for $500 to reimburse Principal Joe Robbins for their purchase.
The money donated in January 2017 was used to purchase classroom novels, that were needed with the Junior High’s new English Language Arts curriculum. “We were able to purchase two different novel sets for 6th grade through 8th grade students,” reported Robbins.
He stated on Thursday, January 10, that “about 45 books have been purchased, designed to supplement the” EL curriculum. These include Informational texts and Historical Fiction. He illustrated the connection. “Eighth graders are studying To Kill A Mockingbird. So, we orderded books on Civil Rights.”
