Rose Mary Huizenga, 61, of Port Byron, IL, died Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at home, surrounded by her family.
Rose was born August 21, 1957, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Harold and Cherrie (Crosby) Stephens. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Cordova, IL. She attended Riverdale High School in the Class of 1975 and then went through nurse’s training to become an LPN. Rose married Randy Huizenga on December 30, 1976, in Cordova. She lived in Kewanee, IL, for nine years, where she did in-home health care. Later she was employed as a machine operator at Miller Container for 22 years. She worked at Menard’s for the last five years. Rose enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader when her daughters were young. She loved being outside, doing yard work, planting flowers, and gardening. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Surviving are her husband, Randy; daughters, Heidi (Rob) Ringberg, Hillsdale, IL, Heather (Jason) Bittinger, Wooster, OH, Dawn Huizenga (Larry Griffin), Port Byron; grandchildren, Cierra Ringberg, Alex Ringberg, Blake Ringberg, Hunter Bittinger, Haley Bittinger; great-grandchildren, Easton Ringberg, Lauren Ringberg; siblings, Carl (Sue) Stephens, Morrison, IL, Dianna Remour, Albany, IL, Bill (Rhonda) Stephens, Erie, IL; sister-in-law, Rhonda Parker, Erie; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; son Keith, in infancy; and sisters, April Hopkins and Debbie Aude.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 26, 2018, at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Port Byron, IL.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at the funeral home.
Burial in the Erie Cemetery will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.
