Braasch Conducts Counselor Academy Training

SteveBraasch2Each year Steven Braasch, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor at Morrison Community Hospital, conducts a two-day training for local counselors.

He conducts these trainings in October and March.

Braasch held a training on Friday, October 12, 2018, at Super Wash, 707 W. Lincolnway, in Morrison, IL.

Over 50 participants attended his Counselor Academy training.

His program included a

  • speaker from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) who discussed “mandated reporting
  • speaker on therapy dogs
  • presentation on a recommended suicide assessment, the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale
  • speaker who discussed the treatment of anxiety in children.

Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton discussed the laws around FOID (Firearms Owner’s Identification) cards and Concealed Carry Licenses.  Both are issued by the Illinois State Police.  Chief Melton also presented rules that mandate reporting of persons (who own FOID cards/Concealed Carry licenses) who are receiving in-patient care at a mental health facility, or if there is a clear and present danger involved.
