Community spirit is multi-generational in the land of the Erie-Prophetstown Panthers. For the third year, a Pink Out Night was hosted at a football game, with proceeds going to the CGH Health Foundation Women’s Health Program.
Led by Cheerleading Coach Ann Schipper, Football mom Jessie Otten, and Dance Team Coach Kayla Bohms, the effort raised $1220. The event was held during the Friday, September 28, 2018, game and included a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, bake sale, and t-shirt sales. Breast cancer survivor Susie Debuysere helped organize the half-time Survivors’ Walk.
Cheerleading and Football Captains and the organizers gathered recently to present the check to Joan Hermes, Foundation Executive Director. The Women’s Health Program serves women in five counties, providing education and financial assistance for mammograms, Pap tests, provider visits, and diagnostic testing.
For the first time, the CGH Health Foundation is partnering with the CGH Medical Center Diagnostic Imaging Center, to provide no-cost mammogram screenings to all women, regardless of ability to pay. Since 1993, the Foundation has assisted under-served women in receiving mammograms and Pap tests, with contributions from area donors.
This new partnership should remove any obstacles that might exist for women who seek a mammogram. Call 815-625-0400, extension 5550, to schedule a screening mammogram.
