Resthave Home, 408 Maple Avenue, Morrison, IL, held their Second Annual Community Family Fun Day, on Sunday September 23, 2018. Over 500 attended the event, which included not only tons of fun but fabulous weather as well!
This entirely free event, thanks to our many sponsors, featured over 35 game and craft stations, for visitors of all ages to enjoy. Barbeque pork, hot dogs, beans, and chips were served along with ice cream, popcorn, and other miscellaneous desserts in the cupcake walk.
The petting zoo, clowns, and bingo were all a big hit, as was Jordan Danielsen from Davenport, IA, who was the live entertainment. There was a people scavenger hunt, coloring contest, and a bike give away sponsored by A+ storage. Pictured are the winners: Tyler Green and Lauren Rubright.
Resthave would like to thank our many sponsors that donated to the event as well as the many volunteers and staff who gave their precious time to make this event a success. It was truly a community event with these local clubs’ participation: 4H, Wan-Tan-Ye, Mason’s, Lions, Girl Scouts, Kiwanis, Morrison Cheerleaders and Pons, Clayton Nigg and his FFA class, Morrison Chamber, church members, community members, and the Resthave Board all lending a hand.

There were several tables on the grounds for enjoying the free lunch.
Treats were available throughout the day. Jamie Troutman, Assisted Living Director, served bags of popcorn. Nineteen of the 36 girls in Girl Scout Troop 1504 “signed up to help with food, making sure people had bottled water and ice cream, and clearing and wiping tables,” said Troop Leader Hillary Blevins. There are four levels of Girl Scouts in the troop. Junior GS Annabelle and Brownie GS Finley were found waiting for more cups. “Resthave Dietary Department made a double batch this year–360 cups–because in 2017 the supply was depleted. It was so popular, and it was so hot,” recalled Leader Blevins.
Resthave resident Leona Schmidt enjoyed ice cream with her grandson. Seregant Kris Schmidt helped set up for the event before work.
Girl Scouts also worked at a Chamber of Commerce game. These sisters had the Spin the Wheel attraction, but they visited the petting zoo first. Left-to-right are sisters Daisy GS Shay and Brownie GS Finley; sisters Daisy GS Muira and Junior GS Lilah. Below, Junior GS Annabelle found a calf with the same name.
The hula hoop contest came down to three children, none of whom lost motion or energy. They were all declared winners; left-to-right are Bailey Morine, 7, from Fulton, IL; Ethan Lee, 10, of Morrison; Ilmeta Dzeladini, 11, of Morrison.
