Double digit hitting propelled the Morrison Mustangs over conference rival Riverdale on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. After allowing the Riverdale Rams a two run second innig, the Mustnag offense kicked in and scored ten runs in the next three innings to secure a 10-6 win.
Danny Willis started and Brock Deter relieved to hold the Rams to six runs on nine hits over the seven inning contest on a beautiful baseball afternoon.
Willis had another productive day at the plate as he clouted a single, double and triple on his way to collecting 5 runs batted in on the day. After being retired in order over the first two innings, Tristan Houzinga executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to advane Bill Lee Greul and Mason Sitzmore before Willis ucorked a double to send the first Mustang runs over the plate.
The Morrison bats struck again in the next inning when Greul drove in two with a double to left and he scored a batter later as Sitzmore stroked a single to left. Willis sent Sitzmore home with a trible and later scored when Alex Volckmannn lace a triple down the left field line to make the score 8-2 at the end of four innings.
Morrison added two security runs inthe fifth to close out their scoring and secure another Three Rivers conference win.
