Eugene M. “Mick” Summers, 88 of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday August 24, 2018, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Eugene was born on July 16, 1930, in Sterling the son of John and Mary (Manspeaker) Summers. He married Beverly June Bielema on October 31, 1954. She died March 2013. Eugene had served in the U. S. Army from 1947 to 1950 in Japan and Korea. He worked for Groharing Contractors in Morrison for six years and then as a brick layer for 36 years, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his daughter Cindy Mayfield of Prophetstown, IL; son Eugene M. Summer, Jr. of Prophetstown; daughter-in-law Margaret Wilkins of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Ron Wilkins, Tracy Henson, Tawney Wiersema, Teresa Bielema, Tara Wilkins, and Megan Borden; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Paxton, a brother, John Summers, and a son, Steve Wilkins.
At his wishes cremation will take place, with a private family burial.
There will be no visitation.
